East meets West on the dancefloor – live music followed by DJ set
Uniformed men wearing gas masks, belly dancers, Arabs on crutches, crowds going crazy... It can only mean one thing: the Cairo Liberation Front. They take music from Cairo’s electro-shaabi scene and pump it up with some eurohouse, before adding a finishing flourish of American hip hop and Arabic rhythms. The result is a full-blown cultural overdose, or an ‘Egyptian wedding rave’, to use CLF’s own description of their work. But bride and groom beware – opinions may diverge on your big day! This acoustic revolution is led by militants whose ultimate aim is to get the public on their feet and dance like there is no tomorrow.
It is a night that never ends. No sooner have CLF struck their last chord than DJs Hein O))) and No nO))) take to the decks, launching a musical battle that mercilessly pitches schlager, twist, polka, rock & roll, YéYé and after-party tracks against one another followed by DJs Hein O))) | Tilburg & No nO))) | Fribourg
