Conversing by touch
Listening and touch, the gentle caress of a felt-tip pen on the skin and the non-visual contact between two human beings: it is in these places that this intimate performance unfolds. The work is inspired by the stories of displaced persons who have recently challenged border discrimination. This simple and subtle work leaves its physical and metaphorical mark on the audience member. The stories can be kept or washed away.
“His tale doesn’t touch me in a fleeting way – as the many stories and images reported in the newspapers do – it goes further. It marks me.”
Lyn Gardner, The Guardian
