Call for participation: watch & talk 2013 at the Festival Belluard Bollwerk International (CH)


The Festival Belluard Bollwerk International and the Migros Culture Percentage are inviting seven emerging artists to a 9-day watch & talk residence in Fribourg, Switzerland. From June 28th until July 6th 2013 they will have an opportunity to enjoy an intensive taste of international theatre and performative work, and to critically interact with other artists. The artists will attend the entire festival program at night while during the day they will engage in discussions and in other types of artist exchange. They will take a critical look at the artworks, at the ethics and aesthetics and at the conditions in which those works were created. They will look at their own artistic practice and their own cultural background through the practices and the corresponding views developed by other participants.

Who we are looking for
Seven artists from the fields of theatre, dance and performance who have at least three years professional experience.

• curiosity about international performative projects
• enjoying exchange of controversial views and perspectives
• interest in and openness to other artists and their work
• willingness to reflect on their own work and on the work of others
• communication skills to be able to debate in English

What we offer
The artists will have 9 days free entry to the performances of the Belluard Festival, and they will meet every day for creative discussions and sharing of practices. watch & talk will also cover accommodation, food and travel expenses.

Time frame
Artists have to be available from Friday June 28th until Sunday July 7th 2013.

Moderation
Hans Bryssinck, an artist from Brussels (B) who works in the broad field of theater, performance and visual arts. Together with Kate McIntosh and Diederik Peeters he runs SPIN, an artist-run support and research platform that amongst other things initiates public events that want to encourage dialogue and discussion between artists, audience and cultural institutions. www.spinspin.be
