Our call for projects 2017 on « art in unexpected places » has traveled around the world and inspired an impressive number of artists. We received 526 applications from 50 countries worldwide. Thanks a lot to everyone who submitted a project, we are looking forward to discover all of them!
The jury is going to study all the proposals carefully and will take its decision by the end of January 2017. Meanwhile, lets meet the eight members of the jury :
MONA DE WEERDT
Mona De Weerdt (*1987) studied Theater and Dance Studies, Art History and World Arts in Bern and Berlin. From 2012 to 2016 she teached dance history, dance analysis and dance theory at the Institute for Theater Studies at the University of Bern.
Since April 2016 Mona De Weerdt works as dramaturge & production manager at Südpol Lucerne.
MARTIAL MINGAM
Artistic director for the APCd Fondation, artist, photographer and film director, Martial Mingam graduated from the Gobelins school (photography) and the University of Paris VIII (« Theory of plastic arts », option photography with Jean-Claude Moinneau). For the last five years, he has also been in charge of the R&D department for 4th year students of eikon, the professional school of applied arts of the canton Fribourg, Switzerland.
Particularly attached to the role of art and creation in our everyday environment, he defends a fragmented view of the possible expression modes and concentrates a large part of his time to the exploration of societal and political themes.
ELISABETE PAIVA
Elisabete Paiva holds a MA in Theatre Studies (Porto University) and a BA in Theatre/Production (Lisbon Theatre and Film School). Between 2003 and 2005, she worked at CENTA (CSNAT – Centre for the Study of New Artistic Tendencies) and from 2006 till 2014 she headed the Education Department at A Oficina, in Guimarães.
Since 2015, she is the Artistic Director of Materiais Diversos.
MARTIN SCHICK
Martin Schick is a freelance performance artist from Fribourg (CH), currently living on the road. After a career as a dancer, he studied theatre and performance at the High school of Arts in Berne. Since 2007 he creates his own stage works, gaining international attention and being shown at renowned art venues around the world, 2016 at Manifesta 11, Staatstheater Mainz, Esplanade Singapore a.o.
Lately he tends to a more spatial practice, focusing on curatorial practice, participatory situations and social sculpture. He realized several of his own projects for the Festival Belluard and was part of the performance « Dorf Theater » in 2016.
SIMONE TOENDURY
Simone Toendury co-programs with Myriam Kridi the performing and street arts, performances and live installations of the Festival de la Cité (Lausanne). She is a co-founder of Tutu Production, a performing arts production and broadcasting organzisation with which she has accompanied artists such as Massimo Furlan, Marco Berrettini and Cindy Van Acker.
With a degree in Political Sciences from the University of Lausanne, she first committed to the cultural field during Expo.02 in 1998.
KARLIEN VANHOONACKER
Karlien Vanhoonacker (*1976) was as a journalist for the VRT. She worked as artistic collaborator at Kunstenfestivaldesarts in Brussels (BE) from 2009 till 2013. In September 2013 she became the artistic director of the art residency space Kunstenwerkplaats Pianofabriek in Brussels. The last three years she worked as a free-lance curator and artistic advisor for SPRING, international festival for performing arts in Utrecht (NL). Occasionally, she writes for the performing arts magazine Etcetera.
NATHALIE VIMEUX
Co-director of the theatre Nanterre-Amandiers until the summer of 2016, Nathalie Vimeux works currently as a freelancer. Previously, she was Deputy Director of Onda.fr for 7 years and worked before that for the Festival d'Avignon as Project Director (2005-2007), after having been in charge of its East European program (1999-2003) and production manager.
She is a graduate of History (Sorbonne), Political Sciences Rennes (Cultural Policies) and the DESS Management of Cultural Institutions of the University-Dauphine.
ANJA DIRKS
Since September 2014 Anja Dirks is the director of Belluard Festival. From 2009 to 2014 she was the artistic director of the festival Theaterformen in Braunschweig and Hannover. Before that she worked for the Theaterhaus Gessnerallee in Zurich, the Wiener Festwochen, FFT Düsseldorf and the Theater der Welt festival.
