TRIALS OF MONEY

Special tribunal for semi-human persons

The charges are fraud, extortion, non-assistance to persons in danger, incitement to hatred and slavery. Money rules the world, so they say. Therefore, wouldn’t it be legitimate to hold it accountable? This perfectly candid question marks the starting point of Christophe Meierhans’ performance, in which a trial is held against the “thing” we call “money”. Various witnesses are called to the stand: an ex-banker, a homeless man, a criminologist, a Native American and an employee of the Swiss National Bank, amongst others. Expressing their thoughts on the subject, they answer the questions of the audience, which is present as both victim and offender. Indeed, money only exists and acts through its representatives – i. e. every single one of us. So, what would be a fair judgement?
